Ben Sallows FCA - Associate

Ben first came to Ashdown Hurrey on work experience during his school days and must have found something he liked, as he returned as a trainee and achieved his ACA qualification in 1998. He works closely with Partner, Carl Read and his importance to the practice was formally recognised when he became an associate in 2007.  As well as managing a varied portfolio of clients with Carl, Ben has staff responsibilities in his HR role and he tends to be the first point of contact for the practice's IT needs.

Outside work, Ben participates in various sports.  Having finally ended his long-lasting local football career, he now concentrates on stoolball during the summer and is one of the regular participants in the Hastings Half Marathon. Ben is one of those who has taken the opportunity of using the half marathon as a way of raising funds for St Michael's Hospice. He is also the treasurer and trustee of a local charity.

Sue Crouch ATT (Fellow) TEP - Senior Manager

Sue runs the firm's Personal Tax Division and she has done so for many years. Her clients value the friendly personal service she provides, where her genuine interest in the wellbeing of those concerned extends far beyond purely their financial needs.

Sue and her husband, Chris, have two grown-up daughters and twin grandchildren, so babysitting duties are to the fore. Sue enjoys walking her dog, entertaining and is a keen supporter of the arts, being a frequent visitor to the De La Warr Pavilion.

Tony Bough FCA - Consultant

Tony was senior partner in the local practice, Hamilton & Wilton, which merged with Ashdown Hurrey more than twenty years ago. Having served his time as a partner, his many years of experience are now tapped into through his current role as a consultant, with the firm benefitting from his great knowledge on taxation of individuals and trusts.

A Chartered Accountant, Tony has recently been awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

Tony remains a keen golfer, being both a member and trustee of Highwoods Golf Club. His interests include DIY, walking, gardening and photography and he serves as both a director and treasurer of the Bexhill Conservative Club.

Natalie Wordsworth FCCA - Senior

Natalie joined Ashdown Hurrey in 2003 and trained initially as an Accounting Technician (AAT) before qualifying as a Certified Accountant in 2010.

Natalie's main role within the practice is providing support to Carl and Ben on their portfolio of clients.  She also assists Ben in his HR role.

Away from work, Natalie's time is taken up mainly with her two young children, who are just sixteen months apart. She enjoys running and a spot of retail therapy.

Natasha Chambers ACCA - Senior

Tasha studied accountancy at A' level and having got a taste for the world of finance, joined Ashdown Hurrey in 2007 and progressed to qualify as a Certified Accountant in 2011. Tasha originally worked in the firm's Hastings office, but switched to Bexhill when Paul and Tamsyn had a vacancy for an experienced senior accountant for their client portfolios.

Tasha enjoys the social side of life with her family and friends and likes exercising the family's dog.

Louise Hutton ACCA - Senior

Louise joined the practice in 2010 shortly after completing her degree at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Louise now works with Paul and Tamsyn, providing support on their portfolio of clients.

In her spare time, Louise likes to visit her old university friends, trips which frequently take her across the north of England.  Also, as an adrenaline junkie, she enjoys theme parks, has completed a sky dive and next on the list is a bungee jump. Clearly, accountancy does not provide all the thrills that she craves.

Sarah Playford ACCA - Senior

Sarah joined the firm in 2009, having become interested in accountancy when she started AAT training whilst working with another local business.  She completed her AAT qualification in 2010 and continued her studies to qualify as a Certified Accountant in 2014.

Sarah mainly works with Carl and Ben, assisting them on their portfolio of clients.

In her spare time, Sarah likes to keep fit, with activities including cycling, running and obstacle course racing.  She balances this with an enjoyment of cooking, baking and spending time with her family and friends.

Carl Addy - Trainee Accountant

Carl applied for a graduate trainee position as he came towards the end of his degree course and having been successful in both his application and his degree, he is now working in the firm’s Bexhill office.

Carl looks forward to obtaining a full professional qualification and has commenced studying towards this.

Carl is a keen skier and and likes to hit the slopes for his annual adrenaline fix. To the bewilderment of his football-following work colleagues, he follows the fortunes of Chelsea FC, seeing them at Stamford Bridge when possible - clearly keen to avoid the misery of supporting one of the many less successful teams!

Stephen Greenfield CAT - Trainee Accountant

After finishing his degree at university, Stephen went straight into industry accounting and spent over five years gaining some valuable experience. He joined the practice in 2015 and being keen to gain a professional qualification, is studying towards ACCA membership.

Stephen has three young daughters who keep him and his wife entertained.  In his spare time, he likes to keep fit by running and playing football. When not playing the beautiful game he tries to watch it as much as possible and is the treasurer at a local football club.  His other interests include listening to music, especially at a good gig/festival!

David Greenslade - Trainee Accountant

David joined the practice in May 2015 as a trainee Accountant after completing his degree at Bournemouth University.

After a short spell as a marketing manager while he was at university, David decided he was far better suited to a career in Accountancy, as he has a keen eye for detail and is comfortable with numerical tasks.

Outside the office, David is an active participant in numerous sports and plays for a local football team.  He also maintains a keen interest in health and fitness.

anna k

Anna Kwiatkowska - Trainee Accountant

Anna graduated from Durham University in 2009 and moved to Wales to pursue a Masters.  After working within the psychology sector for a few years, Anna felt that it was not providing her with enough enjoyment, so she decided to pursue a career in finance.

Anna began her training with another local firm before making the move to Ashdown Hurrey in April 2016.  She is currently studying diligently to complete her ACA qualification.

Outside the office, Anna enjoys keeping fit and helps to run a local running club.  She travels all over the country to participate in races and likes showing her medal collection to anyone who is or is not interested!

Tom

Tom Curteis - Trainee Accountant

Tom spent two years working for local business support group Let’s Do Business where he undertook a finance role. Seeing the benefit of formal qualification, he began studying for AAT and was keen to develop his potential working in a professional office environment. Since joining Ashdown Hurrey he has continued with his AAT studies and works closely in Carl Read’s section with Steve Greenfield as part of the finance back-up provided to a major national client.

Tom is a keen sports follower, particularly Formula 1 and football, following the fortunes of Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge when he gets the opportunity.

Ann Hatch - Secretary

Ann has been working as the main secretary/receptionist in the Bexhill office for more than twenty-five years and for visitors to the office, she is their friendly first point of contact.

Ann spends her time keeping her garden under control and is prepared to undertake long walks, providing they are followed by an equally long stay in the pub afterwards! Ann continues to provide regular encouragement and support to her grandchildren.

Anne-Marie March - Secretary

Since leaving school, Anne-Marie has worked in Solicitors' offices and has spent the last twenty years in criminal law. She decided that a change was in order and joined the practice in April 2015.

Anne-Marie is also a flight junkie, having taken to the skies in a hot air balloon, braved a tandem skydive and received training in acrobatic flying. She tells us that her next challenge is microlighting!
