Paul Bradbury FCA - Director

After university, Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with top four firm PWC and then moved on to a Kent based practice which gave him the opportunity to open and run a new office for them in Hastings. Paul recognised the synergies of merging his office with Ashdown Hurrey and in 1998, Paul and his team came on-board. Since 2003, Paul has been based in our Bexhill office where he continues to use his inter-personal skills to keep in close contact with his many and varied client businesses.

Paul is a keen golfer and sports enthusiast generally and continues to play five-a-side football, albeit from a fairly static position these days!

Jeffrey Moore FCCA ACA - Director

Jeff qualified as an accountant in 1995, joining Ashdown Hurrey shortly afterwards. Since becoming a director, Jeff has taken responsibility for the firm’s internal financial arrangements and his client portfolio includes some of the larger corporate entities who benefit from his strategic advice.

Jeff is another keen golfer and sports enthusiast - this and the attentions of his young family ensure that all his spare time is fully utilised.

Carl Read FCCA ACA - Director

Carl joined the firm in 1998 and qualified in 2005. Carl has enthusiasm for meeting and working with the business community and particularly enjoys helping new businesses get off the ground.

Carl represented the county and retains an interest in local cricket - he once captained Hastings Priory and famously struck a 6 back over fast bowler, Courtney Walsh’s, head to help Priory beat the international Lashings team, who rarely suffer such a setback. Carl restricts himself to golf nowadays and with two young sons, his free time is fully accounted for.

Mark Weeks-Pearson FCCA ACA - Director

Mark joined the practice as a graduate in 2001, having considered other options and undertaken a period of travelling. He qualified in 2006, subsequently successfully completing the practice’s associate scheme, and having run his own client portfolio for a number of years.

Mark has strong communication skills and is actively involved in local networking groups, including Ashdown Hurrey’s Last Friday Drinks. He is also a mentor for Young Enterprise Company Programme Scheme and is always looking for business people interested in mentoring students. Mark tends to lead from the front with the firm’s marketing initiatives and as a family man with two young daughters, he usually has several things going on at one time.

Tamsyn Rayner-Vincent FCCA ACA - Director

Like most of the senior personnel within the practice, Tamsyn joined as a trainee, qualified and then moved through the ranks until being appointed as a director in 2013. Tamsyn runs her own extensive portfolio of clients as well as providing support to Paul on some of his more substantial clients. Tamsyn has strong technical strengths which are vital in implementing strategies; she mixes this with a friendly and approachable nature which enables her to explain complex issues in a straightforward manner to keep clients involved.

Tamsyn juggles her life as a director with being a mum and all her powers of concentration are needed to keep her parallel lives running in tandem!

Stuart 2016

Stuart Rosling FCCA - Director

Stuart joined Ashdown Hurrey originally in the late 1980s and completed his training as a Certified Accountant. Having completed his training, he decided to broaden his experience with a period of work in London and then returned to Ashdown Hurrey before relocating to the practice's Tunbridge Wells office. When that office demerged, he became a partner in the new entity where he remained for a further ten years. Having stayed in contact and on good terms with the Ashdown Hurrey directors, it was a logical move for him to relocate with his clients and Stuart is now based in the Hastings office. He has a wide range of clients, mainly based in the South East of England, with a particular focus on franchises, and looks forward to developing his client base further.

Once an active sporting participant, Stuart now maintains his enthusiasm for all things sporting as a spectator. Stuart maintains his twin interests in music and sport through his musically performing daughter and footballing son, the role involving the inevitable provision of a free taxi service!

Consultants

Patrick Lee FCA - Consultant

Patrick qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 and joined Ashdown Hurrey the following year when it was first set up, becoming its first employee.  He was made a partner 18 months later and has therefore seen all the many changes as the practice has developed and seen his own role develop to one of consultant for the practice as a whole, with particular emphasis on business structuring and tax strategies.  Although having reduced from full-time hours, Patrick spends time in both of the offices on a regular basis and enjoys the continuing personal contact this gives him.

In recent years, Patrick has plodded round the Hastings Half Marathon and although his times have been nothing to get excited about, he has raised funds for St Michael's Hospice.  Having missed a couple of years, he remains determined to do this at least one more time!

Ann Grant FCCA - Consultant

Ann experienced a life outside accountancy before deciding to switch careers and she qualified as an accountant in 1995. Ann works with a wide variety of clients covering the full spectrum of local and some international businesses. She brings her friendly, down-to-earth approach to help clients reach the right decisions.

Ann is very well known in the local business community and set up the Women in Business group, which remains the pre-eminent meeting forum for the female business community locally. Ann's current consultancy role utilises her reduced hours in remaining available to clients and mentoring the team who are assisting in ensuring that clients continue to get the best service possible.

Peter Silk2

Peter FCA - Consultant

Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972 and became a partner in Hamilton & Wilton at the start of the following year.  Peter left Hamilton & Wilton in 1988 to set up his own practice, Silk & Co, in Hastings before Hamilton & Wilton merged with Ashdown Hurrey.  Peter’s office in Havelock Road, Hastings was two doors away from the Ashdown Hurrey Hastings office and he and his staff have been well connected to the firm both through his ties to Hamilton & Wilton and his close proximity.

In 2017, he decided that there would be benefits in merging his practice with one which would be able to provide him with the kind of back-up that a professional firm now needs and Ashdown Hurrey were glad to welcome him aboard.  The change enables Peter to continue to offer his clients the personal service they have always enjoyed, but with the benefit of feeling less exposed as a sole trader.

Peter enjoys watching rugby, spending time in both England and Belgium, eating out, studying military history and holidays.
